POSITION TITLE:         Substitute Classified Assistant

                                     Job Class Code: 8910

QUALIFICATIONS:  High School Diploma or G.E.D and passing score on the Kentucky Para-educator Assessment or 48 college hours.

REPORTS TO:   Human Resources

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Daily contracted services for the current school year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Implements instructional techniques and learning activities as directed.
2. Participates as an integral member of the remediation instructional team.
3. Prepares and organizes materials and equipment for instruction and instructs pupils individually or in small groups in the classroom or a pull-out setting.
4. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. Distributes instructional materials for instruction.
5. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess play periods, lunch, field trips, etc.
6. Assists with the documentation of pupil progress on a continuous basis.
7. Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
8. Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances.  Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment. Model appropriate behavior for students.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:      

1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
3. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
4. Other duties as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor.
