JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

Position Title:                    Substitute Instructional Assistant (Classified)

 

Responsible To:                  Principal

                                           Human Resources Director

 

Basic Function:                  Serve as substitute instructional assistant to work in classroom

                                           with students(regular and special education) and to assist with

                                           student supervision in a variety of school settings.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  1. Implement instructional techniques and learning activities as directed.
  2. Participate as an integral member of the remediation instructional team.
  3. Prepares and organizes materials and equipment for instruction and instruct pupils individually or in small groups in the classroom or a pull-out setting.
  4. Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
  5. Distribute instructional materials for instruction.
  6. Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess play periods, lunch, field trips, etc.
  7. Assist with the documentation of pupil progress on a continuous basis.
  8. Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  9. Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances.
  10. Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment. Model appropriate behavior for students.
  11. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  12. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

High School Diploma or G.E.D

48 college/university hours OR Passing Score on Kentucky Paraeducator Exam

 

Terms of Employment:

 

Daily (temporary) contracted services for the current school year; hourly rate determined by the board of education
