JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Computer Maintenance Technician
Responsible To: Chief Information Officer
Basic Function: Perform a variety of skilled and technical duties related to the
installation, repair, alternation and maintenance of end-user
devices, printers, peripherals, security hardware, and network
equipment.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of skilled and technical duties related to the installation, repair, alteration and maintenance of end-user devices, printers, peripherals, security hardware, and network equipment.
- Maintain cable and wireless network diagrams for school area networks.
- Install information technology hardware systems and software, including upgrades and enhancements.
- Perform preventative maintenance on district technology devices and network equipment.
- Model legal use of software/network resources and encourage the Acceptable Use Policy is followed.
- Use systems integration programs and platforms to enhance the connected user experience.
- Provide assistance, information, and technical expertise to faculty, administrators, and students regarding the safe and proper operation, care and maintenance of district information technology resources.
- Maintain records of equipment and network repairs.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Attend appropriate training opportunities to enhance job performance.
- Participate in scheduled district technology meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Chief Information Officer or Superintendent.
Knowledge of:
- Computerized and electronic equipment including end-user devices, peripherals, and other data communication equipment.
- Methods, equipment and tools used in the skilled repair and servicing of information technology equipment.
- Safety practices and precautions used in working with information technology equipment.
- Operation of a variety of testing equipment.
- Technical aspects of the information technology field.
- Basic record-keeping techniques.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, conflict resolution, and courtesy.
Ability to:
- Perform a variety of skilled and technical duties as related to the installation, repair alteration and maintenance of information technology equipment and peripherals.
- Read, interpret and implement technical service manuals and schematic diagrams to repair assigned information technology and peripheral equipment.
- Plan and lay out installation and repair work.
- Maintain records related to work performed.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Sit, lift, stoop, push, pull, climb, drive, and any and all body movements as related to the job description.
- Work collaboratively with the Chief Information Officer.
- Provide assistance, information and technical expertise to faculty, administrators, and students regarding safe and proper operation, care and maintenance of district information technology resources.
- Maintain records of end-user device and network repairs, materials used, moving and installation activities and work orders; maintain records of maintenance supplies used.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: 2 years of college level course work in computer science and 2 years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing computers and related equipment.
Terms of Employment:
Two hundred forty (240) days at 8 hours per day.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for classified personnel. |
