JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Substitute Instructional Assistant (Classified)
Responsible To: Principal
Human Resources Director
Basic Function: Serve as substitute instructional assistant to work in classroom
with students(regular and special education) and to assist with
student supervision in a variety of school settings.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Implement instructional techniques and learning activities as directed.
- Participate as an integral member of the remediation instructional team.
- Prepares and organizes materials and equipment for instruction and instruct pupils individually or in small groups in the classroom or a pull-out setting.
- Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Distribute instructional materials for instruction.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess play periods, lunch, field trips, etc.
- Assist with the documentation of pupil progress on a continuous basis.
- Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances.
- Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment. Model appropriate behavior for students.
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D
48 college/university hours OR Passing Score on Kentucky Paraeducator Exam
Terms of Employment:
Daily (temporary) contracted services for the current school year; hourly rate determined by the board of education
