JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title:                    Head Academic/Co-Curricular Activity Coach

 

Responsible To:                  Principal

 

Basic Function:                 Enable each student an opportunity to learn the skills needed to

                                         effectively and safely participate in extra-curricular/co-curricular

                                         activities.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  1. Promote academic team and/or co-curricular activities in the schools and community
  2. Plan the assigned academic or co-curricular program
  3. Organize and supervise practices and events
  4. Teach individual fundamental skills, team building, team strategy and rules and regulations of the organization/event.
  5. Teach the elements of good sportsmanship and self-control that displays professionalism.
  6. Respect the integrity and judgment of event organizers, officials, and volunteers
  7. Check eligibility of participants, including parent consent, grades, and attendance (physicals and insurance coverage, if applicable).
  8. Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
  9. Conduct learning experiences, with small groups of student participants.
  10. Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student participants.
  11. Attend all related in-service training, professional meetings, and staff development workshops.
  12. Develop good rapport and lines of communication with individuals and groups to include, but not limited to, student participants, parents, school personnel, officials, media representatives, etc.
  13. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  1. Perform other related duties as assigned by principal or superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications:

               

Basic knowledge of and experience with the co-curricular activity to be coached or coordinated.

                Experience with coaching or work with students in extra-curricular/co-curricular teams,

preferred.

 

Terms of Employment:

 

                Salary and work year/season to be determined by the board of education.

 

Evaluation:

 

                Performance will be evaluated based on board policy and best practices.
